Driven by Family and Community
Born and raised in Phoenix, Jason LaForest is a lifelong Arizonan whose commitment to public service is grounded in a deep understanding of the state and the people who call it home. He attended Arizona public schools before earning degrees from the University of Arizona and Grand Canyon University, building the educational foundation for a career centered on responsible leadership, fiscal accountability, and service to the public.
Following graduation, Jason began a decade-long career in public service and became one of Arizona’s youngest chief financial officers to lead multiple state agencies. Throughout his career, he has served under different administrations and worked closely with elected officials from both parties, gaining firsthand experience with state government, public finance, and the decisions that directly affect Arizona families and communities. That experience shaped a core principle of his leadership: when governing becomes more about politics than people, it is the public that ultimately pays the price.
Jason believes Arizona needs leaders who can work across political divisions, manage taxpayer resources responsibly, and focus on results rather than partisan conflict. His approach to public service is rooted in accountability, collaboration, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to making government work effectively for the people it serves.
An Eagle Scout and avid outdoorsman, Jason has also completed the Arizona Trail, giving him an even greater appreciation for Arizona’s extraordinary landscapes, natural resources, and diverse communities. His connection to Arizona extends from its state government to its trails and communities, reinforcing his commitment to protecting what makes the state unique while creating greater opportunities for the generations that follow.
For Jason, public service is ultimately about stewardship—protecting Arizona’s resources, respecting taxpayers, strengthening communities, and leaving the state stronger than he found it.
